The distillery
Distilling is a journey which starts in the field and ends in the spirit flowing from the still
Outside the small village of Stauning, we are making whisky the Stauning way: Local grains, floor malting and direct-fired small pot stills.
That's how our whisky best reflect the surroundings by the West Coast: the wind, the soil, the crops, the water and the peat.
Our new purpose-built distillery is Danish architecture at its finest: Clean, sharp angles, burnt wood, glass and black metal. A modern interpretation of humble fishermen's huts: A reflection of the local community, the history and the tradition at which it is nestled, just like the whisky crafted inside.

Our Story
Once upon a time, nine friends got together in an old butchery...
The tale of how Stauning Whisky transformed itself from hobby project to world-famed whisky adventure, is a story of curiosity, inventiveness and downright West Coast stubbornness.
It all began when a gathering of friends got together to find out how to make the best whisky possible. Luckily, they entirely ignored the fact that they had no prior experience in whisky-making whatsoever.
You will find Stauning's sleek, new distillery a stone's throw away from the humble abattoir where it all started in 2005
