20th Anniversary Bottling – A Return to the Beginning
This 20ᵗʰ Anniversary Limited Edition is a celebration to the pioneering days of Danish whisky. In 2005 nine friends established the first Danish whisky distillery in an old abattoir in the village of Stauning.
To mark our 20ᵗʰ anniversary, we’ve created a whisky that looks back to that exact moment in time. The Stauning 20ᵗʰ Anniversary Edition is not just a celebration of age, but of origin. It’s a tribute to the whisky styles we crafted in the early days: smoky, honest, and deeply connected to the tranquil terroir of Stauning.
This release is a Peat Smoked Single Malt made from 50% un-peated and 50% peat smoked single malts matured for at least 10 years with a few even older casks in the marriage.
The price is set at DKK 1,199,- and it will be available from 5th of December 2025 at 15.00. This limited edition will be sold via our webshop, at the distillery shop and through select Danish retailers.
The Peat, the Land, the Beginning
In the early years, we sourced our peat from a nearby peat bog called Bølling sø. This place was central to peat production in the early 19-hundreds. When going through the layers of peat workers and archaeologists found the remains of what is believed to be the first traces of people who found their way to the land, we now call Denmark – a truly historical site.
Over the years as our production increased, we outgrew the peat supply from Bølling sø and we started sourcing quality peat from other places in Jutland. This makes this whisky very special to us. It is a glimpse back in time to the style of whisky we made when we first began distilling. The soft West Coast water, the local barley, and the Bølling sø peat – a true terroir whisky loaded with history and pioneering spirit.
A Milestone in a Bottle
Only 2,005 bottles of Stauning 20ᵗʰ Anniversary Edition have been produced – a number chosen to honour the year we fired up our stills for the first time.
At 50.02% ABV, this whisky delivers a bold yet balanced profile. On the nose, you’ll find pear, apple, apricot, fresh hay, vanilla and golden tobacco. The palate is rich and malty, layered with cherry, dried fruit, toasted oak and that unmistakable campfire finish we’ve come to love.
