Danish craftsmanship meets Caribbean heritage in this single cask edition of Stauning R.Y.E. whisky. Made from locally sourced rye and barley, floor-malted at the distillery and double distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills, the whisky combines the bold, spicy character of Stauning R.Y.E. with the rich and rounded influence of a Barbados rum cask.

The whisky was distilled on February 3rd, 2020. The whisky began its maturation in virgin American oak before being transferred to a 200-litre Barbados rum cask, where it will continue to mature until reaching 8 years of age. Barbados has a long tradition of producing rich, smooth aged rum, and the cask brings another layer of sweetness and depth to the rye whisky.

Expect notes of vanilla, ripe cherry, toasted malt, earthy rye spice and charred oak, combined with rich molasses, warm baking spices, sweet tropical fruit and sweet tobacco from the Barbados rum cask. Deep caramel and dark brown sugar add further richness, leading into a bold yet smoothly rounded whisky with a long, warming finish.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your share of Cask no. 2866

This 200-litre cask is divided into 25 shares. One cask share yields approximately 8-11 bottles of 70cl whisky. Please note that the final number of bottles may vary due to 'The Devils Cut' and 'The Angels' Share'.

The Devils Cut: How much the cask absorbs - depends on the wood.

The Angels' Share: The evaporation during maturation - depends on the climate/weather/cask.

The Whisky:

- 1st cask: Virgin American Oak

- 2nd cask: Barbados Rum Cask
- Spirit: Stauning R.Y.E. new make at 64% vol.
- Cask Filled in: February 3rd, 2020
- Maturation: 8 years at Stauning Whisky - Expected bottling in Q1 2028
- ABV: Bottled at 50% vol.
- Edition: Single Cask

How it works

Purchase your share
Once your purchase is completed, the cask share is yours.

We send your Owners Certificate
We will issue your Owners Certificate and send it by post. Included in the letter are also two tickets for a guided distillery tour with whisky tasting.

Invitation to Cask Owners Day
Each year, we invite cask owners to our Cask Owners Day in September. As the event approaches, you will receive an email with more information.

Email about bottling day
When the cask is nearing bottling and a date has been set, you will receive an email with details about the bottling day.

Email when your bottles are ready
Once the cask has been bottled, you will receive an email when your bottles are ready for collection.

Collection or shipping by appointment
Bottles are collected at the distillery. Shipping can only be arranged by appointment.

- Insurance: The cask is insured during the maturation period.

- Important: Pickup is generally required at the distillery - shipping is not available internationally.
