Stauning RØG is a smoked whisky that offers balance, depth and a gentle interpretation of smoke. RØG, meaning "smoke" in Danish, is a lightly smoked whisky that brings together single malt and malted rye in a distinctly Danish expression of smoke.
This whisky is smooth and round, with a delicate smoke, meant to capture a style that is composed rather than dominant ‒ designed to complement, not overpower.
Rooted on the West Coast of Denmark, where grain fields and coastal air shapes the land. Designed with simplicity and intention at its core, Stauning RØG is crafted from locally grown rye and barley: 100% floor malted in the distillery, double distilled in our 24 small direct-fired copper pot stills, matured in American oak and finished in Madeira casks.

The distinctly Danish smoked whisky
Stauning RØG carries a familiar name, but this is a new expression. Where the earlier RØG was a smoked single malt, this version brings together both single malt and malted rye, creating a smoked double malt whisky with more softness, more breadth, and a distinct Stauning character.
The idea, however, remains the same. To create a smoked whisky that reflects where it comes from. At Stauning, smoke is not about dominance. It is about balance, texture, and a sense of place. By using Danish peat and locally harvested heather, materials closely tied to the landscape of West Jutland, the whisky develops a softer, gentler smoke with notes that feel closer to campfire than medicinal peat.
Bottled at 43% vol., this new RØG is deliberately more approachable in style. It opens the door to those who may not usually reach for smoked whisky, while still offering the depth, character, and quiet complexity that define Stauning. The result is a whisky that speaks softly, but with clear intent, and is a Danish interpretation of smoke, shaped by the land, the grain, and the craft behind it.

Local
RØG is perfect example of a whisky with strong local ties. The grains, the water, the peat, and the heather are all locally sourced making it a true terroir whisky bringing you the taste of the Danish West Coast.

Double-distilled in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills.
Unfiltered and non-chill-filtered - some residue may appear.

Soft campfire smoke and toasted grain on the nose. On the palate gentle stone fruit, caramelised oak, and delicate warm spice. The mouthfeel is smooth and rounded, with a soft, lingering smoky finish.
Matured on-site in a combination of American white oak barrels, and first-fill Madeira casks.
