Stauning R.Y.E. PX is a deeper expression of our signature rye, adding rich fruity layers in a more refined profile. It builds on the foundation of Danish rye tradition, gaining depth through careful cask selection and patient maturation — finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
It starts where Stauning always starts: local rye and barley from Denmark’s West Coast, 100% floor-malted and kiln dried at the distillery, then double distilled in small, direct-fired copper pot stills.
The PX cask brings dark fruit intensity and a soft, velvety sweetness that sits naturally alongside rye’s spice and structure. Expect warm baking spices and dried fruits on the nose, followed by caramelised fig, ripe plum and toasted oak on the palate. Balanced, full-bodied, and gently warming, with a long, fruity finish that keeps unfolding.
Dark fruit, softened edges, deeper rye
Pedro Ximénez is known for its naturally sweet, sun-dried grape character — dense, dark, and luxurious. When those casks meet Danish rye whisky, something quietly powerful happens: the whisky gains depth, weight and a more rounded sweetness, without losing its rye backbone.
Stauning R.Y.E. PX is built on a tradition that runs deep. Rye has been grown on Denmark’s West Coast for more than 2,000 years, rooted in the landscape and the way we eat, bake, and gather. Here, that heritage is carried forward with precision and patience: virgin American oak maturation for structure and toasted richness, then a long PX finish to draw out notes of dried fruit, warm spice and caramelised sweetness.
It’s a whisky with balance at its core — where rye spice meets sherry richness, and neither has to shout.

Tasting notes & Details
