The second release in the Gløgg Cask Series: Stauning’s signature Danish Rye Whisky, 100% floor-malted at the distillery and double-distilled in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills. Matured first in virgin American white oak, then finished in a first-fill gløgg cask from Danish craft brewery To Øl.
Gløgg is a traditional Nordic fortified wine, spiced with warm flavours like cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and orange peel. These tasting notes captures the familiar scent of Christmas in Denmark. It might sound like an odd match for whisky, but the result is anything but. Rich, spicy, and unexpectedly balanced.
Bottled at a heart-warming 50% ABV. As a single cask release, only a limited number of bottles exist.
