The third release in the Gløgg Cask Series: Based on Stauning Barley, this whisky is made from 100% floor-malted barley and double-distilled in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills. Matured first in virgin American white oak, then finished in a first-fill gløgg cask (mulled wine / glühwein). We were lucky to source this extremly rare cask from Danish craft brewery To Øl.

Gløgg is sweet and spiced wine – not unlike vermouth – but usually enjoyed warm during the cold winter months. Maturing in a gløgg cask adds rich complexity and depth to the whisky. Expect notes of notes of vanilla, roasted malt, caramel, apple, orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, and all spice. These tasting notes captures the familiar scent of Christmas in Denmark. 

The profile is rich, spicy, and smooth. Bottled at a heart-warming 45% vol. As a single cask release, only a limited number of bottles exist.
