This release is a Smoked R.Y.E. Whisky made from locally sourced, floor-malted Danish rye and barley, gently smoked with Danish peat and heather for a unique smoke profile. Aged in new American oak and then hand-selected sherry oak casks, the result is a smooth, sophisticated malted whisky with subtle fruit notes, elegant florals, and refined smoke.
This first release of Smoked R.Y.E. from Stauning offers a complex profile with floral layers, ripe berries, and a touch of spice. Notes of vanilla, toasted rye bread, beeswax, orange peel, citrus, cherry, black tea, wild herbs, cinnamon, golden tobacco, dried fruit, roasted oak, and leather come together in a whisky that balances depth, character and a mild, yet distinct Danish smokiness.

The Stauning Studio is where we explore the untamed frontiers of Danish whisky-making through limited editions, experimental finishes, and bold ideas. Like a Danish design studio, our focus is on purposeful creation — not mass production. Each release is a thoughtful expression, crafted with care, intuition, and a deep respect for the materials at hand.

Forgotten EU agreement prohibits Danish and European producers from calling their Rye Whisky, a "Rye Whisky"
LOCAL
Crafted from rye and barley sourced within a bicycle ride from our distillery in West Jutland.
AUTHENTIC
Our grains are 100% floor-malted and kiln-dried at the distillery, ensuring flavour retention through traditional methods.
COMPLEXITY
The whisky is matured on-site, first in new American oak barrels and then in Moscatel sherry casks, adding layers of rich flavor and depth.
CHARACTER
Double-distilled in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills. Non-chill filtered - residue may appear.
