Stauning 20ᵗʰ Anniversary Edition | Peat Smoked Single Malt | 10 Years is a celebration of the pioneering days of Danish whisky. In 2005, nine friends established Denmark’s first grain-to-glass whisky distillery in an old abattoir in the village of Stauning.
The earliest styles of whisky we crafted back then were un-peated and peat-smoked single malts. Now, two decades later, we return to those origins with a composition of 50% un-peated and 50% peat-smoked single malt, all matured for at least 10 years in a marriage of ex-Bourbon, virgin oak, Port, and Sherry casks.
Crafted using traditional methods and local ingredients, this is a whisky shaped by terroir, time, and the spirit of experimentation that defined our early years. Only 2005 bottles produced — a subtle nod to the year Stauning Whisky was founded.

A RETURN TO OUR ROOTS
A HISTORIC RELEASE DESIGNED IN DENMARK
Back in our early days, we sourced peat from a nearby bog called Bølling Sø, which was once a central site for peat production in the early 1900s. As workers and archaeologists dug through its layers, they uncovered what’s believed to be some of the earliest traces of human life on the land we now call Denmark - a truly historical site.
As our production grew over the years, we eventually outpaced the supply from Bølling Sø and began sourcing high-quality peat from other areas in Jutland.
That’s part of what makes this whisky so special to us. It’s a glimpse back in time. Back to the style of whisky we made when we first started distilling. The soft West Coast water, the local barley, and the Bølling Sø peat come together in a true terroir whisky, rich with history and pioneering spirit.
CRAFTED WITH TIME, TERROIR & TRADITION
Origins
Made from 100% floor-malted Danish barley.
50% un-peated, 50% peat-smoked single malt with peat from Bølling Sø - a historic Danish bog.
Local
Grains and water for the whisky comes from meticulously selected and locally sourced barley, all within a short bicycle ride from the distillery.
Authentic
Grains are 100% floor-malted and kiln dried at the distillery.
Double-distilled in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills.
Unfiltered and non-chill-filtered - some residue may appear.
Complexity
Matured on-site in a combination of heavily charred virgin American white oak, ex-Bourbon, Port, and Sherry casks.
Character
Aged for at least 10 years with a few even older casks from the early days of Stauning in the marriage. A layered, smoky whisky with deep complexity and bright, fruity notes. Limited to 2005 bottles.

Tasting Notes
Rich, smooth, and malty with notes of pear, apple, apricot, fresh hay, cereals, golden tobacco leaves, vanilla, heather honey, toasted oak, ripe cherry, dried fruit, and the signature campfire smoke.

Aged for at least 10 years in a combination of 8 ex-Bourbon casks, 3 virgin american white oak, 2 ex-port and 1 ex-sherry cask.
